Monica Still Standing Album Review – The last time we heard from Monica was back in 2007 with an album called “The Makings of Me” where she was trying too hard to be contemporary.
We are now in 2010 and Miss Thang has decided to grace us with her beautiful voice on a brand new CD called “Still Standing” out March 23, where she seems to be indifferent to staying current this time around.
Don’t get me wrong the CD is not bad, no one sings about pain, drama, love, cheating and strength like Mo, but at the end of the day the album is plain and lacks that appealing certain something to make it a classic.

Despite having hitmakers such as Ne-Yo, Johnta Austin, Bryan-Michael Cox and Polow da Don, “Still Standing” sounds like it was made for the mid-90s. However there were few standout cuts from the CD that I really enjoyed, the old-school Deniece Williams sampled single, ”Everything to Me”, “Mirror” where she seems to be having a stream of consciousness, the sexually charged “Superman” and of course “Still Standing” which has uplifting words for all of us.
Overall it is not a great CD, but it should do fairly well on the charts thanks to her strong fan base and the hype created by her reality show/personal dramas.
Hopefully she will use her talent to come back and wow us next time with something even better.

Mariah Carey Ribbon Remix Ft. The Dream & Ludacris

Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey Ribbon Remix Ft. The Dream & Ludacris – Mariah Carey has unveiled the remix version of her track called “Ribbon” which features The Dream and Ludacris. The song will appear on her upcoming thirteenth album and second remix album called “Angels Advocate” that will be available on March 26, 2010.

The forthcoming CD will only contain remixes of songs from Carey’s last studio album “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” and can only be purchased exclusively at Target stores nationwide,iTunes.com/target, and Target.com.Now back to the song which I find is a complete bore-fest ,it does not have a new beat, nor new lyrics, she did not even go back in the studio to re-work her vocals. What is the point of calling something a remix if it is identical to the original?

Usher Mars vs. Venus:New Song

usher

Usher Mars vs. Venus:New Song – Usher has a new song called “Mars vs. Venus” that surfaced today where he is using terms related to the solar system and all the astrological signs to explain what happens when two bodies collide during the big bang aka sex/love making.”Mars vs. Venus” which was produced by Jam & Lewis and The Avila Brothers will be featured on the singer’s upcoming CD “Raymond vs Raymond” that will be out on March 26, 2010.

Vocally Usher did a great job on the track, but then again he is known for delivering smooth and sensual notes on songs that talk about sex.Lyrically the song is very cliche but the beat on the other hand is very soothing and baby making like.My conclusion is that Usher needs to make better usage of his voice if he ever wants another hit album.

I’m Up In The Bank Ciara

ciara

I’m Up In The Bank Ciara – Ciara who is busy working on her 4th album has a new song called “I’m Up In The Bank” that surfaced today.”I’m Up In The Bank” which was produced by Tricky Stewart and The Dream (her entire CD will apparently be produced by this duo) has the singer going after the “haters”.The “Goodies” artist brags about all the money that she has and boasts about her luxurious possessions.

After failing with ‘‘Fantasy Ride’’,this is not the direction Ciara should be taking with her musical career.”I’m Up In The Bank” is one of the worst tracks I have ever heard from CiCi,she can definitely do better than that.Working exclusively with Tricky Stewart and The Dream is the perfect move to end up like Jennifer Lopez (no CD,no label and almost no career.)
